I’ve written bottle copy, bottle descriptions, hang tags, and info cards for dozens of products across clients while working at QCM. The ask was typically twofold: write the product description and the story behind the bottle.
For product descriptions, I worked with distillers to extract high-level information, then translated it to the consumer in such a way that whiskey snobs and spirit novices alike could appreciate and understand products.
For the storytelling portion, I was briefed with the inspiration behind the bottle and asked to connect it to an immersive story. For example, my client was familiar with the story of the Royal Gift and thought it would be fitting for a holiday release. My goal was to write a story so captivating that consumers would be willing to spend $250 on an otherwise run-of-the-mill whiskey. This limited release sold out in 48 hours, making it the client’s fastest selling bottle ever.
I also copyedited for products before they went to print, such as the Black Trumpet Blueberry Swirl Ice Cream below.
